Today I want to share another design I created from the same sketch I shared on Monday.
Instead of using all the multiple layers in this card, I challenged myself to create another #simplestamping card but still keeping the basics of the same design.
I started by stamping the large frame from the Swirly Frames stamp set leaving a little opening on the upper left hand side for the sentiment. You can do this a couple of ways. You can either wipe off that portion of the stamp after inking but before stamping it to the paper, or you can mask off that little section on the paper before stamping the frame. I then stamped the sentiment in the opening.
After stamping the butterfly focal image, I masked it off before stamping the smaller frame around it making it look like it is in the background of the butterfly. Masking is one of my favorite techniques and one I go to time and time again. It is so easy, but has such a huge impact.
I used the masking technique one more time on the card by masking the large frame and then stamped the same image in a different color but on an angle. Again, this gives the appearance there is a second frame behind the original.
I did add a few pearls for some embellishing, but no other dimension to this card besides a few mats. The stamping was all on one layer of card stock. So you don’t have to have a lot of physical layers on a card, you can just make it look like you do with a couple stamps, and ink pad and a little masking.
Let me know what you think in the comments below. I have one more card to show you using this same sketch on Friday, so be sure to stop back!
