I’ll be the first to admit that I prefer texting to talking on the phone. The best conversations, though, are those I have face to face.
Good conversations can happen anywhere. Some of my favorites are sitting on a couch sipping a glass of wine, walking the neighborhood with a buddy, soaking in a hot tub drinking an adult beverage, meeting a friend at a favorite hangout enjoying an appetizer and Diet Coke, or gathering around the kitchen table while savoring a good meal.
I’ve noticed that a lot of great conversations happen around tables – a coffee table, a restaurant table, a kitchen table – and I would be remiss if I didn’t add to the list, a crafting table, which is what happened this past weekend at my house.
Although it is quite a bit of work, I absolutely love hosting card events at my house for a number of reasons.
- It forces me to create. As much as I love the creative outlet, sometimes life gets in the way of doing what I love. By hosting these events, it gets me motivated since I know they are counting on me to come up with projects for them to create.
- It is a great distraction when the rest of my week didn’t go quite as well as I would have liked.
- It gives me a great deal of satisfaction witnessing others get pleasure out of seeing what they can create.
- It is another perfect opportunity to have more of those great conversations ‘around the the table.’
Birthday cards are always in high demand. Making one with a special fold just adds more of a fun factor.
And who doesn’t love cupcakes?!?
