2018 was full of happy moments and unforgettable experiences.
At the risk of being a bit hyperbolic, one event will go down as being one of the worst in my life. I had to say goodbye to my beloved Golden Retriever, Maggie, who I only had the pleasure of sharing my life with for a very short ten years.
I know every dog owner says their dog was something special; I am no exception. I also have no doubt that anyone who knew Maggie would agree with me.
Maggie loved everyone and was loved by everyone. She never met a stranger. She wanted to meet everyone on our walks, whether they wanted to meet her or not. She greeted everyone at the door with her tail wagging as if they were only there to see her. And her sweet disposition made everyone feel exceptionally special, and they were, in her eyes.
One of her favorite things in the world to do was go on car rides. I could just drive to the end of the street and back and her day would be complete. I noticed that whoever saw Maggie passing by with the wind blowing through her fur couldn’t help but smile at her care-free spirit.
I still miss this sweet face EVERY.SINGLE.DAY!!
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t miss having to go for walks in the pouring rain, or having to swifter the hardwoods from all the fur she left in her wake, or figuring out who will watch her when I have to go out of town. But I would do all those things, a thousand times over, just to have one more day with her.
Now everyone asks me, “Will you get another dog?”
I’m really not sure. Until I decide, though, I will bask in the sweet memories I have of my special girl and I will “Keep Calm and Wag on…”
This adorable card uses the Happy Tails stamp set available in the new 2019 Occasions catalog. I immediately bought it with the intention to use it in a scrapbook I plan to make of Maggie.
It has some other very sweet sentiments like “A best friend leaves a paw print on your heart” and “Just Fur You!”. There is also one you can use to send to those loved ones who have lost a four-legged family member that simply states “So sorry for your loss”.
I will always have a void in my heart that has Maggie’s name written all over it. But being able to share her with you today makes my heart happy – void and all!
